ARMUN Middle School Model UN & Civic Engagement ClubThe Middle School Model UN & Civic Engagement Club emphasizes building the attitudes, knowledge and skills that students will need in order to effectively be active and engaged members, and leaders, of the communities they are members of now and in the future, and be change-agents working for the good of all people on earth within the spheres they choose to be in and on the issues they choose to work on and try to influence the direction of within their communities. This is done through team building and leadership development work within the club, participation in Model UN Conferences and the preparation for those, work on a local or state issue and the governmental contacts and local/regional partnerships made in that process, participation in community service and advocacy actions, and chances to interact with non-profit/NGO staff and government and international diplomatic staff members around issues the students have been studying. Many, if not most, of the skills identified as 21st Century Learning Skills by the Partnership for a 21st Century Education are covered in real-world application by participation in our club.
